Proven, low-pressure verbal frameworks to turn a cold visit into a warm lead.

Donut Drop: Universal Script & Objection Manual

1. The Opening

Goal: To deliver the gift and lower the gatekeeper’s "sales defense" immediately.

The Script: "Hi there! I’m [Name] with [MSP Name]. We are right down the street, and we just wanted to drop off some fresh donuts for the team to help you guys get through the morning. No pitch today, we just wanted to say hi and make sure you’re having a great day."

2. Build Rapport

Goal: To establish a personal connection based on your immediate observations.

  • If the office is busy: > "I can see you guys are running a million miles an hour. I'll get out of your hair, but I hope these help the caffeine kick in!"
  • If you notice a personal detail (e.g., gym gear, a dog, a sports photo): > "I see the [Detail]. I’m a big fan as well. It’s a great day for it!"

3. Collect Recon

Goal: To identify the competition at the moment of least pressure. Ask this as you are physically turning to leave.

The Script: "Oh, before I go, just curious, do you guys handle your IT and security in-house, or do you have a local firm you work with?"

4. Handling Common Responses

If the gatekeeper or an owner engages further, use these "Wedge" scripts to keep the door open.

Scenario A: "We already have an IT provider."

The Script: "That’s awesome. Longevity with a partner is rare in this business. We actually work with a lot of firms in the area to provide a 'Cyber Score'; it’s just a secondary set of eyes on the security side to back up what your current guy is already doing."

Scenario B: "We’re too small for professional IT."

The Script: "I totally get that. Most people think IT is about fixing printers, but we focus on the stuff you can't see; like making sure your marketing emails don't hit spam and protecting against those wire fraud scams going around lately."

Scenario C: "Can I take your card?"

The Script: "Of course! Here are two, one for you and one for the office manager. I'll follow up in a couple of days just to see how the team liked the donuts."

5. The 48-Hour Follow-Up

Goal: To move from "The Donut Guy" to "The IT Expert."

The Script: "Hi [Gatekeeper Name], it’s [Name] from [MSP Name]—the guy who dropped off the donuts on Tuesday. I wanted to follow up and send over that 'Cyber Score' checklist I mentioned for [Partner Name] to look at. Is [Email Address] the best place to send that?"
